A map of the Holy Roman Empire of the German nation by the famous British cartographer John Speed from the first half of the 17th century. On the reverse side of this atlas map is an English text entitled "The Description of Germany" describing in detail the Holy Roman Empire, whose territories are colored on Speed's map. Above the map are eight vedutas, namely of Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Vienna, Prague, Cologne, Nuremberg, Strasbourg and Augsburg. On the right and left sides of the map are ten illustrations of figures representing either a couple of a certain social status or a couple of a specific nationality. Specifically, the nobility, merchants and countrymen are represented here, while in the case of nationalities, the Czechs and the Swiss are represented.
