The beautiful canvas represents the embrace of a young mother to her little child. The mother is seated on the first entrance step of a building, while she's embracing the swaddled child with both arms and she's kissing him tenderly on the forehead. The child's gaze, on the other hand, is turned to the spectator and this could lead to the assumption that it was the memory of a life scene lived by the painter. The clothes, a white shirt, a wooden chain with the cross, a wide blue skirt with a shawl rolled at the waist to support the child, are probably referring to those used in the Lazio countryside in the second half of the 19th century.
