The collection of UK AIDS Quilts were made between 1989 and 1996 to commemorate friends, lovers and family members who passed away from an AIDS related illness during this time. These individual panels were never sewn into quilts and often refer to a single person or message. You can zoom in to some of the specific details listed below.
A panel of red, green and white with the name Julio Garcia in an arc at the top. Below this is a ribbon of the Colombian flag with the date July 58 - Aug 95. Below this is a picture of a man, and two hearts, one red green and white, one red with London stitched in gold across it. Two exotic butterflies fly next to the hearts.
