GAS-HOLDER INTO HOMES. AW/AT Beautiful blocks of flats have been built on the site of a redundant gas-holder in Ladbroke Grove. Known as Kensal House, they represent a landmark in housing and were built for tenants from Kensington slum-clearance areas at low rentals. These all-gas homes are up-to-date, and complete with radio. There is also a nursery school, playground for older children, and a community club for adults - in fact, it is London's new urban village. Photo shows - Children at play on the sun verandah of the flats. Fox March 23rd 1937.
