6.8.1963. PORTABLE HOUSE FOR £288 Portable house tents made of nylon tarpaulin which can withstand gale force winds and freezing temperatures are being made in Japan, they are ideal for beach cottages suitable for housing 32 persons. They cost £288, and can easily be carried by a station wagon. A smaller edition is made to accomodate 6 persons and costs £135. Tests have been carried out on the tent houses, and they can withstand winds up to 67 mph. In addition they shed snow easily, and absorb condensation which usually forms on the walls of conventional tents. A room temperature of 15.C was maintained although the outside temperature dropped to -40.C, due to the nylon being coated with P.V.C. The tent houses are to be exported to all parts of the World.
