EVICTED FAMILY CAMP ON PAVEMENT.
LONDON: WITH THEIR BELONGINGS AROUND THEM, MR AND MRS CLARK AND THEIR SON ALAN, AGED 2½ YEARS, AMID THEIR FURNITURE ON THE PAVEMENT, WHERE THEY HAVE CAMPED FOR TWO NIGHTS OUTSIDE THEIR HOME IN AVERTON ROAD, EAST FINCHLEY. MR, BERNARD CLARK, 29, A £9 13s 6D A WEEK PAINTER AND HIS FAMILY WERE EVICTED BY THE FINCHLEY COUNCIL FROM THEIR HOME UNDER A COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER, AND NOW THE FAMILY CAMP ON THE PAVEMENT. THE COUNCIL HAVE OFFERED TO PUT HIS WIFE AND SON INTO A HOSTEL, BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED. THE COUNCIL ALSO OFFERED TO RE-HOUSE THEM WITH MRS. CLARK'S PARENTS IN A THREE-BEDROOMED FLAT, THEY WERE WILLING TO GO, BUT MR CLARK'S MOTHER-IN-LAW HAD BEEN MOVED TO A ONE-BEDROOMED FLAT AND
DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE.
