A CRICKET CRAFT
MJH/BER
Within a stone's throw - or more appropriately a
cricket ball's throw - of the famous Lord's cricket ground, the skilled staff of Messrs. B. Warsop and Sons, Ltd., are busy making bats for the new cricket season. In these workshops craftsmen have made cricket bats for over 86 years and the "old hands" are passing on the knowledge gained by experience to newcomers, so this is one craft which will not die..
PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS: 81-years-old MR. GEORGE HUNT of St. John's Wood, who has been in this craft for 65 years, seen giving trainee RONALD PERRY (17) of St. Pancras, a few tips in the art of making cricket bats, as he shows him how to plane down a bat in the St. John's Wood workshops of Messrs. B. Warsop.
