A section of the Perseus and Andromeda fountain at Witley Court

The Perseus and Andromeda fountain was the centrepiece of the landscape gardener William Andrews Nesfield’s ambitious garden scheme at Witley Court in the 1850s.

The dramatic ruins of Witley Court, in Worcestershire, evoke a bygone era of decadent house parties, balls and concerts. The 1890s saw fashionable society flock to Witley Court - but the property is made even more remarkable by the visible remains of a disastrous fire which ripped through the court in 1937, destroying one of England's greatest country houses.
