A semicircle, or better known as a semicircumferentor, for measuring angles. The instrument was used by surveyors and navigators. This example is very modest and simple compared to some semicircumferentors of the time. Count Carl Gustaf Wrangel bought a number of scientific instrument for his personal use and he was known for taking an interest in nautical matters.
