In its 40 year history, the Museum of Chinese in America has undergone several names changes. Before it took on its current name, the museum was called the Museum of Chinese in the Americas (MoCA) in 1995. This name change would reflect the museum’s new direction from being a Chinatown-centric institution into one with a national mandate. This sign is dedicated to the original funders of the Museum of Chinese in the Americas. It was installed at 70 Mulberry Street and following the January 23, 2020 fire is presumed lost.
