A Small Guide to the Invisible Seas is a collage and artist’s book project based on an extensive collection of photographic albums from Soviet Armenia, Turkey and Greece dating from the 1960s to the 1980s. Images of different sizes and textures placed on top of one another create frames-within-frames and force all past temporalities and geographies to collapse into a single space. The work constructs a photographic album of an imaginary country, a utopian place of belonging.
