A specimen of a young ichthyosaur

Around 200 million years ago, this young ichthyosaur swam and hunted in the oceans covering Britain. Mary Anning found its fossilised remains some years after her initial ichthyosaur discovery. The species had a streamlined body like that of a modern dolphin, and gave birth to live young.
