The oil painting on panel shows the view of an eastern street, in Beirut, with on the right and in the background ocher-colored stone buildings with small and sparse windows; in the center there's a passage connecting another street behind, on the left there's an open wooden door, on the right tents and shops of merchants, variously posed characters, two horses, a donkey and three dogs. In fact, Roberto Guastalla visited Siria during these years, driven by the love he had for the East and for the oriental culture.
