With the introduction of a streetcar line in 1908, employees no longer needed to live on the Farm grounds. Instead, they could commute to nearby suburban neighborhoods that grew up to the west and south of the CEF grounds.

The streetcar, nicknamed “The Jigger” is crossing at the top-right corner of this photograph.
