New Delhi , India

This fragment of a tile was, probably, square in shape. The centre of this plaque is embellished with a beautiful face of a devata or Bodhisattva (?). Behind his head, a part of the aureole is seen ornamented with a border. It is made of denticulate and large beaded designs. The corner of the tile is richly decorated with scroll motifs. Such tiles may have decorated the walls of the Stupas of Central Asia.
