The UK100, also known as the American, temporary prefabricated house was created by the Federal Public Housing Authority. Its name is derived from it being comprised of 100 wooden and Homasote (a material similar in composition to papier-mâché) parts. The first of 8,150 UK100s arrived in Britain from the United States in April 1945.
