Guido Guidi is considered one of the masters of the renewed Italian tradition of photography that began to focus its attention on the landscape during the 1980s. Guidi’s work proposes an impartial act of listening that translates into a focus on the objects, traces and interstitial spaces produced by our contemporary era. The visible aspect of reality is fragmented into an infinity of difficult to decipher signs, revealed in partial clues (only apparently) of little significance.
This reading of reality can also be found in the images of the A4 Turin-Venice highway captured for "atlante italiano 003". Composed of a few essential elements, the use of selective focus gives from to the mental process of ‘focusing on’ these signs and traces.
