Families own more than one palang to use when they have to host guests. This palang with a colourful webbing and intricately carved and painted legs, was kept in one of the rooms of the house, to be used only for guests. Angular metal rods were fixed between the frame and the legs of this palang to act as brackets, a common feature seen in takhat (bench).
