Nick says: "Aaron is a charge nurse on the Strokes Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. He was nominated by my cousin who referred to Aaron as a gentle giant and it was my absolute pleasure to make this small contribution to him and the Portraits for NHS Heroes project. When he sent me photos for reference at the height of the pandemic, Aaron mentioned the feeling of daily fear among patients and staff. I hope I captured a little of that in his eyes."
Aaron says: "I'm not ITU or A & E but I'm working with scared staff and patients and Covid is a daily threat to our ward. We have different colour bays to help stroke patients as numbers and words can be lost in a brain injury, so I like Nick's thought of including the vibrant orange from one of the reference photos I sent him. This has been a great idea and I'm really pleased with my portrait. Thank you and keep it up. Don't let them forget about us after this has blown over and the magic money tree is no more. Stay safe."
