This drawing is part of a large group of notes that Michelangelo used to hand over to the stonemasons in order to provide some useful indications to remove the marble blocks destined to many of his works. Especially on this sheet, we find represented some marble blocks quickly sketched by the artist with inscribed, in the middle, the inizials of the craftsmen that had removed them. The sheet is probably due to a marble blocks drawings book that was frequently mentioned in 1517, in a contract signed in Carrara by the notary ser Galvamo parlontiotto di ser Nicola.
