The madrigal, written down in a beautiful handwriting on a grey-light blue sheet, it consists of rapid and playful verses addressed to an imagined “harsh and beatiful” woman. The are no secure elemets for dating the poetry but it is likely that it is set between 1544 and 1546. The careful handwriting and the colored paper indicates that the poetry was intended for a collection of poems of the artist. The composition ends with a playful note handwritten by Michelangelo which states: “about the divine things we’ll talk in light blue field”.
