This bowl with a straight and high wall comes from the archaeological site of Murwab (Mission Qatari-French 2009) and discovered in a domestic habitat context (house 631-632).
Although the glaze is damaged, one can see a horizontal line running all around the rumen with a pseudo-epigraphic pattern painted with manganese brown. The pattern with ascenders (lam?) and an h is repeated. The outside and inside of this bowl is covered with greenish-blue turquoise underglaze paint.
This pseudo-epigraphic pattern could be from the oriental workshops, Samarkand and Nishapur in particular.
