Bust of President Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), 16th President of the United States until his assassination on April 14, 1865, by John Wilkes Booth. President Lincoln is depicted with lapel and tie. Artist Pio Fedi evidently created this bust shortly after President Lincoln’s assassination. The artist worked from photographs, prints, and paintings, as he never visited the United States. Fedi noticeably idealized the President’s features.
