Jean-Baptiste Debret (18 April 1768 – 28 June 1848) , a French painter, who lived in Brasil from 1816 to 1831 and produced many watercolors, paintings and lithographs. This litograph shows the facade of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts of Rio de Janeiro,opened for study on November 15, 1826, and is a facsimile reproduction of the original edition of Firmin Didot Frères at Paris, 1839.
