action figure: Bronze Bombers: Wayne "Golden" Alexander

Yla Easton founded Olmec Toys, a multicultural toy company, in 1985. Easton developed the company after she was unable to find an African American superhero doll for her son. In 1988, Olmec released a line of action figures named the Bronze Bombers. The marketing for the figures touted, “They stand for justice and never lose!” The line included Mapman Jackson, Shaka Johnson, Arrow Hawk, A.J. Moon, Agent Telepathy, and Sure Fire, among others. Wayne "Golden" Alexander was described as a graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy who could "make a computer do anything." While the project struggled to reach the popularity of Hasbro counterparts, Olmec found success with an extended variety of action figures, toys, and dolls. By 1994, Olmec had product in many major retail stores.
