Born in the New Mexico Territory, Nina Otero-Warren promoted education and public health, particularly within the Hispanic and Native-American communities. She was appointed chair of the New Mexico branch of the National Woman’s Party, overseeing outreach to Spanish speakers. Otero-Warren was also influential in her state’s ratification of the 19th Amendment.
