Adolfo Rodrigues da Costa Portela was born in Recardães, Agueda, the August 16, 1866, and died in Fundão, the November 17, 1923.
Was a writer, poet, dramaturge, musician, composer, translator (translated the Black Pope books, Sciencia of Education, the Martyrs of Sciencia and Pope Joan), literary critic, short story writer, essayist and journalist.
Son of José Rodrigues Pinto and Maria de Jesus e Silva, graduated in law at the University of Coimbra, having been lawyer and treasurer of the Public Treasury in Agueda and Fundão, administrator of Guarda and Castelo Branco Counties. Married on April 26, 1890 with Isabel Joaquina Robalo born in Fundão. Monarchist convinced, eventually ostracized because of their political convictions.
His humanism took it with a group of friends to found the "Cantina dos Pobres" in 1912.
He organized several theater groups, leading to the scene theater plays of his own based on customs of the region, with great success not only in Fundão as in Agueda.
As a poet left the works: Orvalhadas (1895), Sol Posto (1896) e Pela África (1896).
In prose wrote: Contos e Baladas (1891), Boémia Lírica (1893), Jornal do Coração (1897), o País do Luar (1902), Por Bem de Águeda (1903) e Águeda – Crónica, Paisagens, Tradições (1904).
As a dramaturge, he wrote: A Festa do Pão, Manga do Frade, A Noiva de João, A Flor de Linho, e Tambor e Folia.
These pieces, although they have not been published, were staged several times, as in May 2006 in Cineteatro São Pedro, Águeda.
In Journalism area is known collaboration of his own in White and Black magazine (1896-1898), several newspapers in Fundão and in Agueda, and "Almanach da Beira”.

The picture was executed by the painter António Alves, was born in Santa Maria Maior on September 25th, 1916 and died in Viana do Castelo the March 26, 1984. It was a simple man, communicative and conversationalist. Printed naturalism to his works and discovered beauty where others had not yet discovered, conveying his fine sensibility artist for posterity. It was a disciple of the Master Joaquim Lopes and attended the Escola de Belas Artes do Porto.
