The Studebaker Proving Ground opened in 1926 eight miles west of South Bend in New Carlisle, Indiana. There Studebaker cars and trucks were rigorously subjected to a wide varitey of tests. The STUDEBAKER "sign" is a living sign consisting of over 8,000 pine trees spanning over half a mile.
