Freetown, Sierra Leone

This aerial view of Bunce Island in Sierra Leone shows both the old and new jetties. The old jetty was used by the slave traders to disembark trade goods from Britain and the Americas and to load up captives and locally purchased trade goods. The new jetty, shown here under construction, was done in 2016 as part of a wider preservation project.
