A sketchy rendering of a village with three huts and women and children. Some trees and blue sky in the background. Continuing graphic and painterly qualities, the four works in the Hewitt Collection typify Hollingsworth's mature style. Both Tomorrow (1977) and African Village (1978) couple oil washes with India Ink, joining the artist's early abstract expressionist tendencies with graphic sensibility he had honed as an illustrator. Expressive inked lines and washes of rich color coalesce into elongated, simplified, regal bodies with finely articulated hands and heads.
