Afternoon Ensemble

Balmain showed a number of dresses with contrasting bodices and banding in his regular collections in the early and mid-1960s. Her Majesty owned several versions in different colors and materials, some possibly made by Her Thai dressmakers after Balmain’s designs. She chose this one to wear in photographs commissioned by American Vogue and published in 1965.
