Aggeliki Giannakidou has been actively researching the region of Thrace for the past 50 years. In 2002 she founded the Ethnological Museum of Thrace, showcasing the culture and history of the region from the 17th century up to the early 20th. She is the author of many books and editor of publications on the topic of Thrace and has given numerous speeches and lectures all over Greece on the complexity of the Thracian culture. During the past decade she produced 25 documentaries and curated various exhibitions. She is the main designer and creator for the museum’s art shop, redesigning traditional techniques with a modern aesthetic. Her last venture is Riza a Network of artisans in Thrace aiming to reintroduce our culture heritage as an economical and ethical boost for the region. She was awarded by UNESCO Greece in 2021.
