Panels made for: ‘Sting’ Ray Petri - Ian Macrae - Roger Kelly - David Wojnarowtcz - Daniel Queirolo - Buffalo (Ray Petri) - Bede Wilmot - John Richmond

The collection of UK AIDS Quilts were made between 1989 and 1996 to commemorate friends, lovers and family members who passed away from an AIDS related illness during this time. You can zoom in to some of the specific details listed below.

The top left panel remembers David Wojnarowtcz, with the message: 'Smell the flowers while you can' stiched on the black panel.

The top centre panel remembers Bede Wilmot, made by Tony's (his partner) sister, Joan. Bede was a teacher who brought the best out of people and made the world a better place, 'His true colours were beautiful, like the rainbow colours in the quilt'.

The top right panel remembers Daniel Queirolo, with an attached poem written below. The design features a dinosaur, rainbows, flowers and a shooting star.

The centre right panel remembers Roger Kelly, with a flower design over a red heart. This quilt was made for him by a former partner, who made it 'as a mark of my love for him'

The bottom left panel features a series of red crosses and a single white heart in the centre.

The centre left panel remembers Ian Macrae. Ian was very intelligent and enjoyed cultural pursuits like theatre and music, and he had a large CD collection - featured here in the design
