Avtar Krishan Raina, better known as A. K. Raina, studied craft design in the National Institute of Designs, Ahmedabad, after his BFA from College of Art, Trivandrum. In 1981 he became a Founder Member of the Kashmir Artists Guild and was well known both in the national and international arena.

Raina's anguish of having to leave his homeland at an early age found expression in his art. He worked with acrylic and oil on canvas and was inspired by the creation of divine nature around his lost home in Kashmir. With playful brushstrokes and vibrant imagery, he beautifully brings out the landscape's forms and shapes and colours.
