Alan Donovan staged the first Malagasy Festival in Nairobi in 1971 after touring the island of Madagascar.This was the first of many Madagascan Festivals, one of which included a former Miss World, Parsis Khambata, who was in Nairobi making a film with actor Sydney Poitier and Michael Caine.
