Autographs of King Jeongjo as Crown Prince, Expressing Tenderness Built on Strictness
The Album of King Jeongjo’s Autographs is a collection of 39 letters sent by King Jeongjo (1776-1800) to his grandfather Hong Bong-han (1713-1778) when Jeongjo was still the Crown Prince and the king’s eldest grandson. These letters, which were written from June 3rd to December 27th, 1772 when Crown Prince Jeongjo was 20 years old, shed light on the contemporary political situation, newly published books, and Jeongjo’s relations with his maternal relatives.
