View from the balcony of the Alexandra Palace stage. The Alexandra Palace Theatre was redecorated in 1922 by the manager W. MacQueen-Pope. It was leased to Archie Pitt, husband of Gracie Fields who used the Theatre to rehearse her shows. It is rumoured that she coined the name ‘Ally Pally’.
