Alfonso Borgia (1378-1458) was elected Pope in 1455 and took the name Pope Calixtus III. During his brief papacy, he organised a Crusade to reconquer Constantinople, attempted to consolidate Papal authority within the Papal States, and canonised Saint Vicente Ferrer.
