Aliya (Alcove)

Aliya used as places of worship are generally covered using a curtain, which is hung from khuti (wall peg) or nails, fixed on either side of it. Sometimes bandarwal (a type of bunting specifically used for religious shrines) is hung from the khuti to decorate the aliya.
