This important, large-scale, mediaeval tapestry is dedicated to courtly love, scenes of which were extremely popular at that time. This richly peopled tapestry is in extremely good condition, and on it, we find finely dressed couples in a garden landscape, playing games with erotic and intimate overtones. Suggestive depictions of this kind were symbols for the conquest of a beautiful woman. Precious decorative tapestries of this kind decorated churches and abbeys as well as public prestige buildings and residences of the upper classes.
