Almari (Alcove)

This almari had an arched top and was built in the stone wall of the kitchen in a haveli. It was used as a place of worship in the house. The top shelf was used as a shrine where prints of deities were placed. Items required for worship like camphor and vermillion were placed on the bottom shelf.
