Born in Barcelona, Bru escaped to Chile during the Spanish Civil War and studied art at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Santiago and Taller 99. Working mainly in painting and engraving, Bru is known for making figures in various states of erasure and fragmentation. This theme reflects her personal experience with war, dictatorship, exile and a strong passion for justice.
