Along the Juniata

Shearer took pleasure in depicting the natural landscape in all seasons and this autumnal scene is no exception. The Juniata River cuts through the center of Pennsylvania before spilling into the Susquehanna River, flowing south towards Harrisburg.

This was the third painting to enter the Reading Public Museum’s collection, and the first by Christopher Shearer.
