This is actually part of a wooden barrel base or lid. An alquerque game board was carved into the wooden artefact, no longer used according to its primary function. The game board measures 22.7 x 21.4 cm, and is divided into 16 squares (ranging in size from 5 x 5 cm to 5.5 x 5.5 cm) and has two diagonals.
