Before he was 8 years old Mahavira used to play games with other boys. One day in his court Sakra while describing the hero, ‘’vira’’ said that all steadfast beings were inferior to Mahavira. On of the gods became very jealous and was determined to shatter Mahavira’s spirit. He went to where the game ’Amalaki krida’ was going on. The god assumed the form of a serpent. But Mahavira picked up the serpent as if it was a rope. The other boys were ashamed and resumed the game. The god now returned in the form of a boy. At this time the boys were climbing a tree, Mahvira reached the top first and he was supposed to ride on the other boys. The god whose intent was wicked grew to a large size so that Mahavira cannot ride him. However Mahvira gave a mighty blow on his back, which made him a dwarf. He felt ashamed and did reverence to Mahavira and returned to his abode.
