Amara Kabbah Commemorative Carving

A wooden carving commemorating the life of Amara Kabbah, a well known Sierra Leonean reggae musician. It was made especially by the Sierra Leone Reggae Union and Shain Foundation , and presented to the Sierra Leone National Museum in 2006. It was accompanied with a written biography of Amara Kabbah, which reads: PROFILE OF LATE BROTHER AMARA KABBAH. Born at number 7 Upper Banana Street, Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone in November 1962. The late Maestro was the off-spring of Mama Fatmata Kamara and Pa N fagie Kabinneh Kabbah. He was the second of the three sons of his mother. He attended both primary and secondary schools in Freetown and sat his O levels at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School, Kissy Dock Yard, Freetown. He was among the first Sierra Leonean artists who launched a soca album in 1987, entitled chest pain and later in May 1991, he released his second album, Tamaraneh , alongside his elder brother, N fagie Kabbah - dubbed as Kabba Brother . However, brother Amara left Sierra Leone to join other Sierra Leonean artists to perform in London in 1994. Fortunately, he found himself in Holland where he founded Shain Foundation , whose vision is now undertaken by his widow Anne-Marie Tieborsh Kabbah. In Holland, he released his final album, Confront it in 2003. Unfortunately, he passed away on June 22, 2003 at the Lumley Beach, Freetown. Although he is gone, Shain Foundation still lives on as the widow is working in fits and starts in order to see the late man's vision us accomplished. Shain Foundation has already been established in Sierra Leone and is working in affiliation with Vision for the Blind and Sierra Leone Reggae Union as a whole. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE.
