The American Kestrel is one of the only species of raptor where the male and female have different feather color palates. Males are rusty above with slate blue wings with black accents. Females have primarily rusty bodies with the signature grey head. Both sexes have the black mustache slashes on their cheeks -- typical of most falcon species.
