The Pennsylvania or Kentucky Long Rifle was developed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the early 1700s; it evolved from a short German hunting rifle. It was famous for its long range and accuracy. This well-crafted Long Rifle was made by Christian Beck, from a family of renowned gunsmiths. The whales-tale patch box and distinctive carving are typical of Beck rifles.
