The American Music Show was a public access television variety show based in Atlanta, Georgia. Running from 1982 to 2004, the low budget show featured musicians, skits, interviews, and became a cornerstone of Atlanta queer culture. Drag queen and television personality Ru Paul made frequent appearances.
Atlanta Biennial curators chose to set the video hall with a flowery couch, coffee table, and lamp to evoke the feeling of watching the American Music Show in a domestic living room.
