This painting depicts an episode from the Ayodhya Kand (second book of the Ramayana). Reading from right to left we see Dasaratha's charioteer telling Rama that his father wishes to see him; the charioteer taking Rama to his father; and Dasaratha telling Rama that he is planning the coronation for the next day, when Rama will be declared king. Next to Rama are seated three Brahmins.
